But times are changing. New competitors are arriving with feature-packed cabins, advanced technology, and premium interiors, making the current Fortuner feel a little old-school in comparison. Toyota seems to have heard the criticism loud and clear. The upcoming Fortuner Facelift is expected to bring a fresh design, more technology, better comfort, and even mild-hybrid efficiency, all while retaining the strengths that made it a bestseller in the first place.
A More Aggressive and Premium Look
The updated Fortuner appears set to receive its most significant visual refresh in years. While the overall muscular stance remains familiar, the design is expected to look sharper and more modern than before.
At the front, a larger honeycomb-pattern grille gives the SUV a stronger road presence. The slimmer LED headlights and redesigned daytime running lights add a more sophisticated touch, while the reworked bumper with larger air intakes creates a sportier and more aggressive appearance.
From the side, the Fortuner continues to look imposing, with its high beltline, pronounced wheel arches, and newly designed alloy wheels enhancing its premium appeal. Around the back, one of the biggest highlights could be a connected LED tail-light setup, bringing the SUV in line with current design trends and giving it a wider, more contemporary look.

Importantly, Toyota isn’t expected to compromise the SUV’s off-road credentials. The rugged body-on-frame construction, low-range four-wheel-drive system, and differential-locking capabilities should continue unchanged, ensuring the Fortuner remains as capable off the beaten path as ever.

One of the biggest upgrades expected on the new Fortuner is the addition of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
